Welcome!

Ellen's Enliven Massage was established in July 2011 in a friendly neighborhood in NW Seattle. This part of town, Ballard, is considered to be a cultural, active, sportive, vibrant community. It is only 15 min. from downtown, yet a world apart. This haven from the hectic and demanding workplace provides wellness needs for all kinds of clients and evokes a heightened awareness of the mind-body connection and therefore a healthy lifestyle. Clients with specific needs and and/or need injury treatment are also at the right place.

The massage studio is situated outside in a remodeled sun room for 3 seasons of the year. In the winter we use a peaceful room inside the house. Both rooms create a spa-like setting, where nature can further nurture the client. It provides a little oasis in the industrialized world.

Ellen's Enliven Massage treats the whole person. We go beyond the treatment to create a health awareness that benefits the whole being. It focuses on treating all living creatures and mother nature with respect.

We would like to leave a small carbon footprint on this planet so we only use organic products and linens. Treatment is focused on increasing life and/or career longevity by offering a customized, constructive and educational treatment.

Having the client (re) connect with nature and the beauty of Mother earth is one of the biggest benefits that comes with this outdoor massage practice. In this technological age we often forget the healing power of nature. Touch is also healing, which makes it a nice combination to success.

We also sell merchandise such as organic soaps, cream and oils, as well as handcrafts like jewelry and postcards.

What to Expect at your first Appointment:

1. Greeting and Intake:
If this is your first time into the studio, you will be asked to complete a confidential Health Information/Intake Form (unless you would prefer to do that online (see page 10 'Client Forms'). Afterwards, you and the therapist/LMP will briefly discuss your health history and current situation as relevant to the upcoming massage session.

2. Preliminaries: The therapist will show you where to place your things and how to get on the massage table, then leave the room while you undress. You may disrobe completely (the sheets can be skillfully manipulated to preserve modesty), or you may keep your underwear on.

3. The Session: Once you are on the massage table, the therapist will get some customized music going (you may also bring your own music), adjust the lighting and the “face-cradle” angle, and then begin the massage. Details of each session will be different according to each client’s needs and preferences, but usually the massage will start with back, neck, and shoulders; proceed to hands and arms; then to feet, legs, and hips. Upon turning over onto your back, the massage will continue with more work on the legs and arms, and then finish with more extensive work on your neck, shoulders, face, and head.

At various times during the session the therapist will “check-in” with you about your comfort and enjoyment of the session, with questions like “how is the pressure so far?” or “is it painful as I pull here?” Proper feedback from you is very important for the overall success of the session. Feel free to speak up at any time with any comments, suggestions, cautions, or complaints. Ideally, you and the therapist will be cooperating together to create the perfect massage.

4. After The Session: When the massage is over, the therapist will leave the room. Feel free to take your time and “reconnect with reality” before getting up off the massage table and getting dressed, visiting the restroom, etc.  Back on your feet, you’ll be offered water (proper hydration is important at all times, but especially after a massage… ask the therapist why) and invited to comment on the session if you’d like. Payment is accepted at this time, although you may take care of that before the session if you’d rather. We can discuss discount options (link) and schedule your next appointment. Then you’ll be seen on your way, hopefully with a lighter step, a higher chin, a brighter eye, and a bigger smile than when you arrived. Come back soon!
